Discern Digital Literacy

Introduction:-

Digital literacy means to assess, produce, comprehend and convey information in the digital age. It includes abilities such as media literacy, information literacy, critical thinking and technological competence. Being digitally literate in the 21st age is not a luxury but a neccessity.  With the development of digital literacy, cyber socialization has permeated every part of our everyday existence. Cyber socialization means to interact, communicate and build relationship in online. Cyber socialization has changed the way how people interact, communicate thus bringing both advantages and disadvantages. With help of cyber socialization people can easily traverse the large information available, critically assess the information and can easily communicate with eachother. Digital literacy has changed how people interact thus creating problems like disinformation, cyber bullying and harrassment online. 

Integrating Digital Literacy In Educational Settings:-

In this period especially after covid-19, students meat be digitally literate to succeed in work space. Higher Academic Performance, Increased Social-Emotional Development, Higher Critical Thinking Abilities and Higher Career Success are some of the luxuries that students obtain due to digital literacy and cyber socialization.

Higher Academic Performance:-

Students in this age must acquire digital literacy abilities and cyber socialization abilities. Students can also use their abilities to acquire information by incorporating digital literacy in educational settings. The skills required are appraisal, synthesis and critical thinking. Studies show that kids with higher digital literacy abilities perform well academically.

Improved Social-Emotional Development:-

Students social and emotional characters can also benefit from cyber socialization. Which is the use of digital tools for social contacts. Students can interact, co-operate, communicate and conduct debates via online platforms. Students can learn cooperation and coordination skills from these encounters. 

 Higher Career Success:-

Employers these days place a higher level of impotance on candidates who have digital literacy abilities. According to the World Economic Foroum digital literacy is one of the required skills for the workforce. Schools should prepare students by incorporating digital literacy in educational settings.

Conclusion:-

Virtual literacy and cyber socialization has changed how people interact. Humans of each age are increasingly dependent on gadgets for communicating and interacting. Covid-19 has paved way to make people digitally literate. Thus people who are digitally literate are better equipped to traverse the all out changing technological landscape and obtain job opportunities.
